PNG Compress

PNG Compress: workflow and output

Re-encode a PNG and optionally reduce its width. Choose it when a PNG output is needed, including images with a transparent channel.

How to use PNG Compress

  1. Select a PNG file.
  2. Set a maximum width if fewer pixels are acceptable.
  3. Process and compare the output dimensions, transparency and file size.

Example and result checks

The exported PNG remains a lossless image format. Downsizing reduces pixel count; a same-size re-encode may not save space.

What this tool does not do

The browser’s JPG-style quality setting does not control PNG compression. A very efficient source PNG can become larger after export.

Troubleshooting and choosing the right workflow

For an exact size limit, reduce dimensions when permitted. If transparency is unnecessary and the image is photographic, compare a JPG version rather than repeatedly lowering the PNG quality setting.
