PDF Compress: workflow and output
Re-save a PDF with compact object streams. This can reduce structural overhead in some documents, but does not aggressively recompress scanned page images.
How to use PDF Compress
- Choose a PDF that opens without a password.
- Process and compare the downloaded byte size with the source.
- Inspect the page count and readability before replacing any working copy.
Example and result checks
The test PDF stayed readable after processing. A file made mostly of already-compressed images may show little saving or even become larger.
What this tool does not do
There is no quality slider or exact target-MB control. Compression is not guaranteed for every PDF, and re-saving can affect digital signatures.
Troubleshooting and choosing the right workflow
For a portal with a strict limit, check the actual download size. If a scan is still large, reduce image resolution in its source workflow; unlock a protected PDF only when authorised and when you know its password.
Related workflow
PDF → Images offers a different operation; choose it only when that result matches your task.
