Crop Square: workflow and output
Take a centred square crop from an image. Use it to prepare an avatar or square thumbnail when the important subject is near the centre.
How to use Crop Square
- Choose an image and check whether the subject is centred.
- Process to create the square PNG.
- Review the cut edges before downloading.
Example and result checks
An 800 × 400 sample produces a 400 × 400 crop from the middle. The shorter image side determines the square size.
What this tool does not do
There is no drag-to-reposition crop box in this tool. Content near the left or right edges of a wide image may be removed.
Troubleshooting and choosing the right workflow
If the subject is off-centre, reposition it in an editor first. Crop before resizing to a required square resolution; forcing both dimensions in Resizer can stretch the image.
