Image Contrast

Contrast: workflow and output

Increase or reduce the separation of light and dark tones around the middle of the image. Use it when a picture looks flat or overly harsh.

How to use Contrast

  1. Select an image and set Amount near zero to begin.
  2. Increase gradually for stronger separation, or decrease to soften the tones.
  3. Inspect fine details before downloading the PNG.

Example and result checks

Positive Amount values make dark regions darker and bright regions brighter. Negative values narrow the tonal range.

What this tool does not do

Extreme settings can turn subtle textures into solid black or white. The tool applies one adjustment to the whole image and cannot protect a selected region.

Troubleshooting and choosing the right workflow

If the image is simply underexposed, try Brightness first. Review the result at normal size because a dramatic thumbnail can conceal lost detail.
