Image Compress

Image Compress: workflow and output

Export an image as JPG with a chosen quality and optional maximum width. It is useful for photographs intended for email or an upload with a size limit.

How to use Image Compress

  1. Select the image and set maximum width only if a smaller resolution is acceptable.
  2. Adjust Quality gradually rather than choosing the minimum immediately.
  3. Process, then compare file size and visible detail.

Example and result checks

The output is a JPG copy. If the image is wider than the chosen maximum, its height is reduced proportionally; smaller images are not enlarged by that limit.

What this tool does not do

A smaller file is not guaranteed when the input is already efficient. JPG cannot preserve transparency, and PNG line art may look worse after lossy conversion.

Troubleshooting and choosing the right workflow

For transparency use PNG or WEBP where supported. Compare the downloaded image at normal viewing size before uploading, especially around small text and sharp edges.
