Grayscale Image

Grayscale: workflow and output

Create a monochrome PNG while preserving the image’s dimensions. Use it for a neutral illustration, a black-and-white preview or a consistent visual style.

How to use Grayscale

  1. Choose a supported image.
  2. Run the conversion.
  3. Compare tones in the preview and download the PNG copy.

Example and result checks

The filter combines red, green and blue using weighted luminance values. Areas with different colours can become similar shades of gray.

What this tool does not do

It changes colour appearance rather than guaranteeing a smaller file. Coloured labels that distinguished categories may become difficult to tell apart.

Troubleshooting and choosing the right workflow

For charts, keep the colour original and verify that symbols or patterns still explain the data. Use Contrast separately if the monochrome result looks too flat.
