Filename Cleaner: workflow and output
Suggest a filename containing only Latin letters, numbers, dots, underscores and hyphens. It is a convenience for systems that reject spaces or special characters.
How to use Filename Cleaner
- Choose a file whose name you want to inspect.
- Run the cleaner.
- Read the suggested filename in the downloaded TXT report and rename your copy separately if appropriate.
Example and result checks
A sequence of unsupported characters is replaced with a hyphen. The file contents are not changed, and the selected file itself is not automatically renamed.
What this tool does not do
Non-Latin characters are replaced, so meaningful names can be lost. Different original names may produce the same cleaned name.
Troubleshooting and choosing the right workflow
Check for name collisions before applying the suggestion to a folder. Preserve the actual extension and do not mistake a renamed extension for a format conversion.
