BMP to PNG

BMP → PNG: workflow and output

Convert a BMP image into a PNG copy when another application requires that format. The browser decodes the source pixels and exports a new file; the original is kept separately.

How to use BMP → PNG

  1. Choose the BMP image, checking that it opens correctly.
  2. Run the conversion and inspect the PNG preview.
  3. Download the result and verify dimensions and important details.

Example and result checks

The synthetic BMP sample produced a decodable PNG file. Ordinary raster conversions keep decoded dimensions; SVG dimensions depend on the source artwork and its declared size.

What this tool does not do

BMP images are often inefficient for web delivery. PNG retains a lossless representation of the decoded pixels; compare the actual sizes instead of assuming a fixed reduction.

Troubleshooting and choosing the right workflow

Renaming a filename extension does not change its format. If decoding fails, export a fresh copy from the source application. A PNG conversion is for compatibility, not automatic enhancement or a guaranteed smaller file.
