PDF Flatten: workflow and output
Make filled AcroForm fields permanent in a PDF copy. This is useful when a recipient should read filled values without editing the original form controls.
How to use PDF Flatten
- Fill and save the form in a PDF reader first.
- Choose the saved PDF and process it here.
- Check each field’s visible value in the flattened preview, then download.
Example and result checks
A test document containing one editable text field produced a PDF with no remaining editable form fields. The filled value remained part of the page.
What this tool does not do
This operation does not promise to flatten every annotation type or specialised XFA form. Keep the editable source, and do not rely on a re-saved file to preserve a digital signature.
Troubleshooting and choosing the right workflow
If a field disappears or looks wrong, return to the original PDF and verify that its appearance was saved. Flattening is different from PDF compression, which aims at file structure and size.
